Adam L Berman

CEO and Co-Founder

Adam is an experienced medical device leader with a focus on minimally-invasive cardiovascular technology Commercialization, R&D and Operations. Adam co-Founded TVA with Billy Cohn, built the team and has lead the strategy and execution of the company since its inception, including venture and strategic investment rounds.

In prior roles, Adam has been responsible for the development and commercialization of cardiovascular laser ablation systems, cardiovascular anastomotic devices and robotic surgical systems. His past companies include Coalescent Surgical, Inc. (now Medtronic), MedicalCV, Inc., Castlewood Surgical and Computer Motion, Inc. (now Intuitive Surgical).

Adam received his BSE Magna Cum Laude in Biomedical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his MSE in Bioengineering from the University of Washington.

Alfred M Macdaniel, JR, C.P.A. & J.D.

Vice President, Finance, Administration and General Counsel

Alfred is an experienced financial and legal executive and possesses a broad set of skills to tackle the financial, accounting, operational and legal challenges faced by early stage and growth oriented companies.  Alfred joined TVA after previously serving as the CFO and General Counsel of a preeminent venture capital firm managing approximately $300 million of assets under management.  Prior to that, he served as a corporate transactional lawyer helping to raise more than $225 million in venture capital financings and regularly advising companies, entrepreneurs, and venture capital funds in connection with the formation and operation of companies, public and private capital raising activities and the purchase and sale of businesses in a variety of industries, including medical devices, software, pharmacology and clean energy.

Before attending law school, Alfred worked as a business development analyst for LandCare USA, where he evaluated and assisted in the acquisitions of more than twenty-five privately held companies during a 14-month period and prior to that served as an auditor for Arthur Andersen LLP.

Alfred received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, his Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Honors and Accounting and his Bachelor of Arts from the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin.  Alfred has been a Certified Public Accountant in Texas since 1998 and a member of the State Bar of Texas since 2002.

Philip M Tetzlaff

Vice President, Operations and R&D

Philip is a leader in the research, development and manufacturing of energy based medical devices. Most recently, as a Senior Director at Arthrocare, he lead multiple development teams for the company’s core product portfolio. At Tyco Healthcare (now Medtronic), Philip led the technology and product development efforts of the LigaSure vessel sealing line as Director of R&D. His prior companies include Glucon, Cardio-Optics, Lockheed Martin and Nordick Track. Philip holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Noah J. Bartsch

Vice President, Clinical and Regulatory Affairs

Noah joins TVA with an accomplished track record of leading novel medical device technologies through clinical study and regulatory approval in the United States and on a global scale.  Noah led the clinical and regulatory team at an early stage company (LDR) for 10 years, from start-up to acquisition (Zimmer Biomet).  In addition to IDE/PMA experience, Noah has directed pre- and post-market studies in the US and Europe, leveraging clinical excellence to support market development and reimbursement globally.

Noah earned his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics from Michigan State University, and his Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Mike McCully

Senior Director, Clinical and Market Development

Michael brings over 14 years of experience in the medical device industry, having held various roles in early stage companies including sales, sales management, clinical affairs and professional education and training. His prior companies include Cytyc (now Hologic), Foxhollow (now Medtronic), Access Closure (now Cardinal Health), and Cardiovascular Systems Inc.

Prior to starting his career in the medical device industry, he was an officer in the US Army. Michael earned his BA in economics from Tulane University.

Michelle L Machuca

Senior Director, Marketing and Reimbursement

Michelle Machuca is a Strategic Marketing expert with experience in new therapy commercialization and acquisition integration. Michelle previously ran Cardiovascular Marketing and the customer education center at St. Jude Medical. Prior, at Medtronic Cardiovascular, she lead the global marketing and commercial expansion for transcatheter valve therapy post-acquisition of CoreValve, achieving TAVI market share leadership and increasing product adoption by 4X in more than 35 countries. Previous experience includes leading marketing and commercial operations at Sorin CRM and marketing and sales roles at Medtronic CRM and Guidant Corporation.

Michelle holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Rice University.

David J Gunther

Director, Clinical Education & Commercial Development

David comes to TVA Medical with extensive experience in cardiovascular medical device clinical adoption and commercialization. David has held sales, sales management, and National Training positions at three consecutive early stage startup companies from initial commercialization to successful exit: AccessClosure (acquired by Cardinal Health), Foxhollow (acquired by ev3 now Medtronic), and Coalescent Surgical (acquired by Medtronic, Inc.)  Prior, David held sales positions at Ethicon Endo-Surgery and Pfizer.

David holds a Bachelor of Science in Biochemisty from University of Notre Dame.
